Kashmir University’s Markaz-i-Noor, Centre for Shaikh-ul Aalam (RA) Studies, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages Monday organized a book release function in the campus.

Two books Rysh Wa’re authored by Prof Manzoor Ahmad Fazili and Bol Anmol (Pahari translation of Kalam-i-Shaikh) by Nayeem Karnahi were released on the occasion.

Prof Bashar Basher, Chairman Markaz-i-Noor, welcomed the participants and spoke about literary heritage of Kashmir. He congratulated the authors for their valuable contribution in the literary field, a University of Kashmir statement said this evening.

The function was presided over Prof Mehraj-ud Din Mir, Officiating Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir. Zafar Manhas, Former Secretary J&K Cultural Academy & MLC, was the Chief Guest while prominent writer Farooq Nazki was the guest of honour.

In his address, Prof Mehraj-ud-Din said he was extremely happy to be a part of the event. He urged youngsters to come forward and contribute in the field of literature.

The CUK V-C also lauded the role of Markaz-i-Noor in disseminating the message of Shaikh-ul-Aalam (RA) among common masses, especially the younger generation. “The multi-directional way of working of Markaz-i-Noor in the fields of research, publication and outreach programmes is quite laudable,” he said.

Zafar Iqbal Manhas deliberated on various literary endeavors of the Academy in promotion of literature and culture.

Farooq Nazki shared his experiences about the development of literary produce and efforts put by concerned authors on “checking various literary strategies.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages, defined the contours of literary study and critical evaluation and further stressed on development and propagation of literature in variegated fields. Three book reviews were also presented during the event.

The function was attended by a galaxy of well-known personalities, writers and scholars of Kashmir

The author of ‘Bol Anmol’ Nayeem Karnahi and Ehsan Fazili, son of Prof Manzoor A Fazili  (author of Ryesh Wa’re) also spoke on the occasion.
