SRINAGAR

National Conference senior leader Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Friday sought explanation about Ahmad Nagar encounter and gutting of school building on a holiday from the State Government.

During the Zero Hour in Legislative Assembly, Kamal said that people want to know the facts about the gun fight that took place in Ahmed Nagar area of Soura Srinagar. “So much destruction has taken place there. Property worth lakhs have been damaged. There are contradicting reports about the gun-fight and I want that government should come up with a statement so that facts be made to public,” Kamal said.

“Are there policemen who like Indian Army have started indulging in fake encounters? Whole population was terrorized in Ahmed Nagar during the gunfight,” he said.

Expressing surprise, Kamal said that government should explain how and why a private school that caught fire in Gogji Bagh on Thursday was opened when there was holiday in the State.

“Does it mean that private schools do not follow the guidelines of government and it was surprising to learn that no government official visited the school,” Kamal said adding that government should clear its position on both matters.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mir Saifullah assured Kamal that government would come up with a statement in the House on Saturday.
