SRINAGAR: Kashmir Angel Network (KAN) on Thursday celebrated National Startup Day at its corporate office, Veracity House, Rajbagh, emphasising the need for increased investments and stronger support to nurture local startups in the region.

Marking the occasion with a discussion titled “KANversations: Unlocking Opportunities,” the event brought together prominent startups from diverse fields to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in Kashmir. Panellists included the founders of Cred Integrated Agro Private Limited, Chew n Brew, Zerothware, Wildfloc Adventures Private Limited, Self Sawari, Pujkaak, Thinksite Services Private Limited, and Elite Institute of Placement and Training.
In his inaugural address, KAN Chairman Shabir Handoo highlighted the network’s efforts to elevate Kashmiri startups to the global stage. “KAN’s mission is to provide a platform where entrepreneurs can access funding, mentorship, and other vital resources,” Handoo said.
The panel underscored the critical need for more investment in Kashmir’s startup ecosystem, alongside greater support from both government bodies and private corporations. Entrepreneurs also discussed the importance of National Startup Day in fostering innovation and promoting entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir.
Startups attending the event praised KAN for its role in connecting them with mentors, investors, and industry experts. They lauded the network’s initiatives, including capacity building, market access, and funding opportunities. Regular events, workshops, and conferences organised by KAN were also highlighted as key enablers for fostering collaboration and growth.
The discussions concluded with an interactive session where participating startups shared their entrepreneurial journeys and the hurdles they face in the region.
