Srinagar: Accompanied by his son and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday filed his nomination for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat at the office of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir and Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra were also with him.

Karra, who was a member of parliament from the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency resigned from the seat last summer when Kashmir was simmering after the killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani.

Karra was rumored to be fighting the elections from the same seat. However, the National Conference and Congress top that met here a few days ago unanimously nominated NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah as the candidate for the Srinagar-Budgam assembly segment.

Congress and NC are fighting the LS by-polls jointly and Farooq is the joint candidate for Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary seat which is going to polls on April 9.
