National Conference on Thursday said it was for PDP and Mehbooba Mufti to reflect over PDP co-founder and its Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Tariq Karra’s resignation from the Lok Sabha and from the basic membership of PDP. NC spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said Tariq Karra’s resignation reflected the gravity of the situation in Kashmir and also the enormity and scale of disaffection – both against PDP and within PDP – for its complete sell-out.

“National Conference has not asked for the dismissal of this State Government, nor have we asked Mehbooba Mufti to resign. These calls are coming from the topmost leaders in her own party and it is for her own conscience to decide what she would like to do. What lessons she draws from Karra’s resignation is a matter of her own conscience and morality”, the NC Spokesperson said in a statement issued from Party Headquarters on Friday.

The NC Spokesperson expressed grief on behalf of the party for the killing of two youth on the auspicious occasion of Eid and also over the death of a young boy from Kulgam who was injured on the fifth of August and succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar on Thursday.
