Karwan-e-Aman

Muzzafarabad-bound weekly bus service Karwan-e-Aman was suspended Monday following heavy rains that reportedly inundated a key route leading to Aman Setu where it crosses over to Pakistani side.

Sources said that due to surged canal flowing underneath the Red Bridge near Uri, a patch of road caved in resulting in the suspension of service.

DL Shah, a Beacon official while confirming the reports suspension, said that they will begin restoration of the road after the weather improves.

Kashmir valley received widespread rainfall starting Saturday while upper reaches experienced season’s first snowfall that left temperatures plummet by several degrees. On Sunday, Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed down following instances of land sliding. Srinagar-Kargil route was also shutdown, reports said.
