A private limited company, Kashmir Air Services, Friday announced its formation and decided to operate helicopter services covering the pan-J&K terrain.

Kashmir Air Services has already done the ground work for start of the air services and has selected key professionals with vast experience in airlines, aviation to manage the operations of the service, a testament of the company said.

The process of obtaining requisite government, DGCA approvals has since started, sources said adding the process of selection of helicopters has also started in parallel with a view to synchronize their induction with securing of requisite government approvals to the extent possible.

They said that initially Kashmir Air Services will induct six right fit helicopters to implement its plans to operate air services between Srinagar-Gulmarg (including heli-skiing), Srinagar-Pahalgam, Srinagar-Sonamarg (including heli-skiing), Local Srinagar aerial sightseeing, Srinagar-Tangdar, Srinagar-Kargil, Srinagar-Drass, Srinagar- Amarnnath Ji and Srinagar-Uri.

A few helicopters will also be configurable to act as Air ambulance to meet medical emergencies arising around these prospective air connected areas. Charter helicopter air service will also be catered to by Kashmir Air Services, they added. Other viable locations including that of traffic intensive Mata Vaishno Devi will be added in ensuing phase/s.

Sources said that the operations are expected to start anytime in the year 2018.

Kashmir Air Services is a company from the house of Dar’s whose Dar Timbre Company is a highly reputed company in timbre trade in J&K. Dar’s are also in the hotel business (City View Hotel, Gulmarg). Abdul Sattar Dar, Aijaz Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Saqib Dar are the promoters of Kashmir Air Services Pvt Ltd.
