SRINAGAR: The internal strife within the BJP’s Kashmir unit has escalated to the point where the party’s top leadership is set to arrive in New Delhi.
Their objective is to ease tensions and persuade disgruntled party members against engaging in any disruptive behavior, instead urging them to remain composed.
According to sources of the news agency KNO, approximately 100 party leaders, activists, and workers engaged in an extended meeting with the BJP’s J&K Chief, Ravinder Raina, in Srinagar.
This meeting, lasting for three hours, involved the aggrieved party members outlining issues responsible for creating divisions among mid-level and lower-level leaders and workers.
A source familiar with the matter revealed to KNO that the meeting concluded without specific outcomes, despite the party chief’s assurance to maintain calm and unity among the leaders. Raina emphasised the importance of avoiding conflicts and disputes, highlighting that the BJP was a large party where such tensions have no place.
Nevertheless, party leaders remained steadfast in their stance and called for the resolution of their grievances.
One party member, choosing anonymity, shared that several other issues were also addressed during the meeting. Their main intention was to inform the party chief about the gravity of the concerns raised by them. While they achieved their objective, the party chief will ultimately make the decision. When asked if they had threatened mass resignations, the party member cautiously replied that they had conveyed their concerns and demands to the party chief, awaiting the party’s response.
Trustworthy sources indicated that the “Internal strife” has now come to the attention of the party’s central leadership in New Delhi. As a result, the national leadership of the BJP plans to visit Kashmir in order to quell the situation before it escalates further. National General Secretary of the BJP, Tarun Chug, is scheduled to visit Srinagar on August 13, followed by the arrival of BJP National General Secretary (Org), B L Santosh, on August 25.
During these visits, the BJP leadership intends to hold direct discussions with the dissatisfied leaders and take necessary measures to maintain unity within the party. Notably, reports have emerged suggesting that BJP leaders from Kashmir have threatened to resign if their demands are not met. (KNO)
