SRINAGAR: Abdul Majid Mir, the incumbent Vice President of Kashmir Chamber f Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has died in a road accident. He had gone to fetch some grocery when a scooter hit him in a Delhi locality. He died almost instantly and breathed is last while being driven to the hospital.

Mir along with his family was in Delhi. Sources privy to the developments said Mir has been shifted to AIIMS for mandatory medico-legal processes following which he will be flown to Srinagar for burial. The air-traffic between Srinagar and the rest of the world is snapped because of the huge snowfall.

Dr Mir, a veterinarian started his own business after retirement from the wool board. His family is into the apparel sector and they own any manufacturing facilities. They are into handicraft exports as well. He has been associated with KCCI for a long time. Earlier he was the Secretary-General of the trade body.

Meanwhile, the KCC has extended their sincere to the Mir family. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr Mir who died in a tragic accident in Delhi where he ha gone a few days ago,” the Chamber said in a statement. “Dr mir had always worked for the upliftment of the business community and had a great understanding of the economic scenario of Kashmir. He always extended helping hand to our youth and guide them on the economic front. He will be truly mise.”
