SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has lauded two landmark infrastructure projects—the Delhi-Srinagar rail line and the Z-Morh tunnel—for their transformative potential in improving Kashmir’s accessibility and economic prospects.
In a statement to press, the Chamber expressed gratitude to the Central and Jammu and Kashmir governments for prioritising these initiatives. The Delhi-Srinagar railway promises year-round transportation, addressing challenges posed by winter closures of the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, while also potentially curbing high airfares. KCCI urged the government to ensure seamless direct rail connectivity to Delhi, optimising travel efficiency.
The Z-Morh tunnel, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 13, is expected to boost tourism in Sonamarg and improve connectivity to Leh, further enhancing the region’s economic and tourism potential.
KCCI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting infrastructure development for Kashmir’s prosperity.
