SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, under the Jammu Kashmir Crime Branch, has filed a chargesheet against four individuals for cheating and criminal conspiracy in connection with medical college admissions in Bangladesh.
The chargesheet, lodged under FIR No. 20/2025 and Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, has been submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar.
According to the complaint, the complainant was introduced by his relative, Peerzada Aabid of Bijbehara, to Syed Wasim of Pulwama, proprietor of M/s Europe Consultancy Centre. The accused allegedly assured the complainant that they could facilitate the admission of his son in a medical college in Bangladesh.
The complainant was subsequently introduced to Syed Suhail Aijaz of Takya Magam, Kokernag, and Zaigam Khan of Bemina, owners of Overseas Consultancy, who also promised to assist in securing admission. Acting on these assurances, the complainant paid several lakhs of rupees as fees, intended to be deposited with Park View Medical College in Bangladesh.
Investigations by the EOW revealed that the accused fraudulently retained a significant portion of the funds and deposited only USD 8,000 (approximately Rs 6.04 lakh at 2021 exchange rates) with the college. As a result, the student was unable to continue his studies due to non-payment of the remaining fees.
The probe, based on bank records, official communications from the medical college, and statements recorded during the investigation, substantiated the allegations against all four accused: Peerzada Aabid, Syed Wasim, Syed Suhail Aijaz, and Zaigam Khan.
The EOW concluded the investigation, confirming the charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy, and submitted the chargesheet for judicial adjudication before the competent court.
