SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department has directed all field functionaries up to the rank of Range Officer in the Kashmir region to wear the prescribed departmental uniform while performing official duties, warning that any deviation from the instructions could invite disciplinary action.
In a circular issued on November 6, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, directed all concerned personnel to wear the official uniform during field duties and official engagements, wherever applicable.
The circular stated that the Forest Department was a uniformed force and that wearing the prescribed uniform reflected departmental discipline, identity and professional ethos, besides reinforcing authority, accountability and a sense of responsibility among field personnel.
It directed that the uniform must be neat and properly maintained and strictly conform to the prescribed departmental specifications.
The Chief Conservator of Forests has also instructed all controlling officers to ensure strict compliance with the directions and monitor their implementation during inspections and field visits.
They have been asked to ensure that subordinate field staff wear the prescribed uniform without exception.
“Any deviation or non-compliance with these directions shall be viewed seriously and may invite appropriate disciplinary action under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1979, as applicable,” the circular stated.
