Srinagar

Independent lawmaker and MLA Langate Er Rasheed Thursday lashed out at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and asked him, “If Shankar truly believes Kashmiris don’t know meaning of freedom and are running shops in the name of resistance movement, he should never have met Muzaffar Wani, father of slain commander Burhan Wani.”

Rasheed, in a statement issued here, said, “Sri Sri and people of his thoughts should understand that a nation which has sacrificed more than one lac lives for legitimate cause of right to self-determination, don’t need lessons from those who are directly or indirectly collaborators of state terrorism.”

The lawmaker said it is obvious that when Indians feel the heat, they beg from street vendors to Muzaffar Wani for helping in restoring normalcy and once things seem to be returning to normalcy, they indulge in lies and in intellectual dishonesty.

“Sri Sri must remember that seeking plebiscite is something promised not to Kashmiris but to people of the entire state that existed in 1947, as such opinion and verdict of majority has to be accepted by people of all the five regions of state, as Kashmiris are not seeking a solution on religious lines.”

The Langate lawmaker said whatsoever the outcome of plebiscite may be the people of entire state will have to accept it whole heartedly the same way minorities accepted it at the time of partition in India and Pakistan.

Rasheed asked Ravi Shankar to have a debate with him and discuss merits, all dimensions and perspectives of J&K dispute at a place and timing of his convenience.
