Kashmir IAS Topper’s Alma Mater Hails His ‘Stellar’ Performance

Athar Aamir Khan, a young IIT engineer from South Kashmir’s Islamabad district, made history in Kashmir securing second position in IAS held in 2015 of which results were declared on Tuesday evening (May 10, 2016). An alumnus of IIT Mandi Himachal Pradesh, Athar received a letter of appreciation from his erstwhile Director. Kashmir Life reproduces the contents of the letter for the interest of the readers

Yet another prestigious achievement by an IIT Mandi student!

Mr Athar Aamir Khan, an IIT Mandi alumnus, has secured second rank in          the prestigious civil services examination, 2015. It is a proud moment for all, at the alma mater of Aamir. Born on 5th Sept 1992, a resident of Islamabad, Jammu & Kashmir,

Mr Aamir joined IIT Mandi in 2010 as a BTech (Electrical) student and graduated in 2014.

Prof Timothy A Gonsalves (Director, IIT Mandi), extended his message of appreciation to Mr Aamir writing: “Dear Aamir, Congratulations on your stellar achievement in the Civil Services Exam! I’m sure that your state of J&K will benefit greatly from your services in the years ahead!”

Mr Aamir wrote back an overwhelming reply to the Director’s message stating “Dear sir, Thank you so much for your kind wishes. I am very thankful to you sir and the IIT Mandi faculty for the support, guidance and love. I am proud to be an alumnus of IIT Mandi. It has been the cradle where I could evolve my worldview and nurture my dreams. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the student community of IIT Mandi for their warm wishes and love. With warm Regards Athar Aamir Khan (A proud IIT Alumnus)”.

IIT Mandi takes this grand opportunity to congratulate all its alumni for their achievements and at the same time to encourage all its current students to set high goals in life and work towards it with passion. Mr Aamir has set an example of “Success through persistent efforts”.

While in IIT Mandi, Mr Aamir always proved his worth in academic and extra-curricular activities. Few of his achievements include – 2nd position and honourably mentioned in DESIGN PRACTICUM’12 at IIT Mandi for building an oil spill removing and oil recovering machine; Co-founded Society for Collaborative Research and Innovation (SCRI) and Electronics Club in IIT Mandi; Edited ESSENT, SCRI-IIT Mandi Technical Magazine; and many more to add to the list.
