SRINAGAR: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) reviewed the eruption of “volcanic situation” in the valley on the eve of Lok Sabha bye-elections constituencies. It said the situation had “devastating impact” on state’s economic activity.

“Since 2014 floods situations are being created on one or the other pretext to disrupt the peace particularly in the Valley which result in the death, maiming and blinding of a large number of people of all age groups,” the Chamber said in a statement after its emergency meeting that its president Mushtaq Ahmad presided. “It is felt that uncalled for political statements and ill-timed decisions taken by the Government at the highest level and other Constitutional bodies compound the already complex situation obtaining in the State.”

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry considers it its duty to warn the powers that be that the above referred acts of omission and commission are continuously crippling the economic sectors of Kashmir such as tourism, handicrafts, transport, general trade, horticulture and education.
