SRINAGAR: The jewelers in Kashmir dismissed the claims of inferior quality of gold coins in the Valley on Saturday and urged people not to pay heed to the rumors.

Addressing a news conference, the All Kashmir Gold Dealers and Workers Association, stated that certain individuals with vested interests from different states in the country are selling gold coins in the Valley at exorbitant rates, falsely labeling the government-approved gold coins from Kashmir as inferior.

However, the association’s president, Bashir Ahmad Rather, clarified that the gold coins available with the jewelers in Kashmir have been approved by the central government and are no different from the gold coins being brought to Kashmir from other places and sold at prices exceeding Rs 70,000.

“We fail to understand why the gold coins from Kashmir, which possess the same quality, weight, and other characteristics, are being labeled as inferior,” Rather said. He emphasized the need to take action against such serious issues and urged people not to be influenced by them.

“We are selling genuine gold coins, and the government should take appropriate action. If the government identifies any differences between the two types of coins, we are willing to take responsibility and face the law,” Rather added. (KNO)
