Kashmir Mirwaiz Meets Maulana Mehmood Madni in Delhi to Discuss Waqf Bill

   

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is currently in New Delhi, met Maulana Mehmood Madni, the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, today. Accompanied by Maulana Rehmatullah Qasimi of Darul Uloom Raheemiya, Mirwaiz discussed key concerns regarding the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill and its potential impact on the autonomy and management of Waqf properties.

During the meeting, the leaders emphasised the need to protect the rights and interests of Waqf institutions and the Muslim community. Mirwaiz also briefed Maulana Madni on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, underlining its significance in the broader context of their discussions.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is expected to continue his engagements with prominent religious and political leaders to raise awareness about the concerns of the Muslim community regarding the proposed legislation and the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

On January 25, 2025, Mirwaiz led MMU delegation had a detailed interaction with Muslim MP, Assaduddin Owaisi in Delhi.
