The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik had called for a valley-wide shutdown on today.

All the business establishments, government, and private offices are closed, while public transport remained off the roads.

Reports said that contingents of paramilitary forces were deployed in region’s capital particularly old city areas, where the situation remains tense following the killing of a youth who was run over by a CRPF vehicle in Nowhatta on Friday.

Meanwhile, train services have been suspended across Kashmir, keeping in view of the shutdown call.

“We have suspended all trains between Srinagar-Budgam-in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir today,” reports quoting a Railway official said.

Similarly, no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region, he said.
