Kashmir: Police Arrest Seven Drug Peddlers During Multi-District Crackdown

   

SRINAGAR: Police have arrested seven alleged drug peddlers and recovered substantial quantities of narcotic substances during coordinated operations in Awantipora, Budgam, and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir under the ongoing anti-narcotics drive.

The multi-district crackdown reflects intensified efforts to dismantle drug networks, with recoveries of charas and cannabis-like substances during naka checks and residential searches.

In Awantipora, police intercepted an auto during checking and recovered around 50 grams of a charas-like substance from three occupants identified as Asim Ahmad, Uzan Farooq, and Farhan Rashid.

In Budgam, a police team from Magam intercepted a suspicious auto on the Watmagam-Magam road. Two individuals attempted to flee but were apprehended, and 2.14 kilograms of a cannabis-like substance was recovered from the vehicle. The accused were identified as Firdous Ahmad Ganie and Naseer Ahmad Mir.

In Pulwama’s Newa area, police conducted a search operation at a residential house in the presence of a magistrate, recovering approximately 110 grams of charas powder and 850 grams of a charas-like substance. Two persons, including a woman, were arrested during the operation.

Police said all accused have been taken into custody and cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations.

Further investigation is underway to identify and dismantle the wider narcotics network.
