Kashmir Press Club ( Aiwan- e- Sahafat) on Friday accepted the resignation of its interim President Salim Pandit. Pandit had tendered his resignation from the post of President citing personal reasons.

“ The executive body of KPC met in the wake of the recent developments which have cropped up after the tendering of resignation by Salim Pandit from the post of President in the society of the club,” said a statement issued by the KPC.

“The committee has received a formal letter in this regard which has been accepted. All the members have also put on record his contribution towards the setting up of the club so far.” A group of Valley based media persons, including editors, journalists, photographers and videographers had formed an adhoc body of Kashmir Press Club in December 2017.

Besides the office bearers, seven members nominated by different media associations were also elected as part of the adhoc managing body. The adhoc body is coordinating with the government for establishment of first press club at Srinagar. Once the club is established, the adhoc body would ensure elections for the formation of a permanent body, the statement added.
