SRINAGAR: Kashmir Valley on Saturday reported fourth death due to the novel coronavirus as a 60-year-old man from Nowgam Srinagar died at SKIMS Bemina, taking the overall death toll in J&K to 57.

An official said that the patient from Nowgam Srinagar who was admitted as asymptomatic Covid-19 on June 5 died this evening.

He said that the patient was expected to be discharged on Sunday as his sample was taken today for testing prior to discharge.

This is the fourth Covid death since morning in Kashmir as earlier in the day, a retired doctor from Parrypora, Srinagar died at JVC Bemina. A few hours after him, a 60-year-old resident from Shopian district of south Kashmir breathed his last at SMHS hospital Srinagar and after that, a 75-year-old from Baramulla district died at SKIMS Soura.

With his death, the number of casualties due to the novel Coronavirus has reached 57 in J&K. Earlier, 56 patients have died due to COVID-19 including 50 from Kashmir and six from Jammu.
