SRINAGAR: A Kashmir scholar is reported to have died of cardiac arrest on the university campus in Karnataka.

PhD scholar of Mysore University, Shabir Ahmad Wani died of cardiac arrest on January 7, 2023

Identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani, 32, he was a PhD scholar in the Chemistry department of the University of Mysore.

Reports appearing in media said he belongs to Chansar village in Kulgam. He is son of Mohammad Amin Wani. He was supposed to complete his PhD this year. He had already submitted his thesis and was waiting formal award.

A family source has told reporters that Wani’s friends called them and broke the bad news. Another report suggested the police called the family. It was Saturday evening that he complained f chest pain and was immediately driven to hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Family has requested the administration to fly Wani’s body home for the burial. Another report said a group of relatives have already left for Mysore.
