SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V K Bidhuri, on Sunday said that the administration has enhanced power supply arrangements for the winter and has undertaken extensive preparations in anticipation of La Niña conditions.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Div Com Bidhuri, said that they were aware of the impending La Niña event and had made improvements compared to last year.
“We already had an idea that La Niña was coming, and our preparations have been better since last year,” he said.
He added that the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is working on a curtailment schedule to ensure minimal disruptions. “I am fully hopeful that power cuts will be fewer than the previous year,” Bidhuri remarked.
Acknowledging the expected harsh winter, he urged consumers to cooperate, particularly during transformer breakdowns, and advised against using crude instruments.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a harsh winter for Kashmir, including heavy precipitation and prolonged cold spells, attributed to the La Niña phenomenon. (KNO)
