SRINAGAR

The valley is observing complete shutdown Thursday against the continuous killings of Gaza people by the hands of Israeli bombardment. However, official sources said the situation was peaceful.

The shutdown call has been given by Hurriyat (G) led by Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (JK) led by Shabir Shah.

All the shops and business establishments are closed and the public transport is off the roads however private vehicles are plying on Srinagar roads.

Reports of shutdown have reached from all the district and Tehsil headquarters of the valley. Amidst shutdown, hundreds of people gathered in Pampore town and held protests raising anti-Israel slogans.

Kashmir witnessed massive anti-Israel protests in the last seven days especially by students forcing authorities to close all the educational institutions for a two weeks summer break.

The Israeli government also issued an advisory for its citizens ‘not to travel to valley’.

Anti-India slogans are also heard in the anti-Israel protests. “India and Israel are strategic partners and the Kashmiri people know it, it is Israel which advises India about Kashmir so the protesters exhibit their anger against India as well,” separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan said.
