The complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir parts to protest the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the region.

Deserted Lal Chowk in Srinagar, as all shops and business establishments, shut.

JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik had asked people to observe complete shutdown against the Modi’s Kashmir visit.

Reports said that almost all the shops and other business establishments are closed. Some private vehicles were seen plying, however, public transport is off the roads.

Authorities have suspended mobile Internet service across Kashmir ahead of Modi’s visit to the state.

Almost all the separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and other separatist leaders were either detained or placed under house arrest. Former MLA Langate Er Rasheed who was planning to welcome Modi with black flags, was also put under house arrest before being taken to a police station.

Heavy contingents of police and paramilitary personnel are deployed along Gupkar and Dalgate roads that lead to SKICC, where Modi e-inaugurated projects.
