Life came to a grinding halt on Thursday in Kashmir valley, due to a strike called by the separatists against the killing of a civilian in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar district.

All the shops and other business establishments across Kashmir are closed and traffic is off the rods, meanwhile, the historic Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar was closed to prevent any protests. There were restrictions in the down and additional reinforcement was deployed in the area.

The strike call was given by the separatist leadership JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Umar Farooq, and Mohammad Yasin Malik, in response to the killing of a civilian and two militants in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar.
