SRINAGAR: Kashmir experienced a slight relief from the intense cold wave as minimum temperatures rose across the valley, though they remained below the freezing point on Monday. Srinagar recorded a low of -3.4°C, while Qazigund and Gulmarg registered -4.0°C. Pahalgam recorded -5.0°C, and Shopian emerged as the coldest location in the valley at -6.3°C. Meanwhile, Zojila continued to experience severe cold with a low of -23.0°C.
In the Jammu region, temperatures were relatively warmer, with Jammu city recording 5.0°C, Katra 6.9°C, and Ramban 6.8°C. Banihal registered 1.0°C, while the coldest location in the region was Padder at -4.3°C.
In Ladakh, Leh recorded a minimum temperature of -8.6°C, and Kargil experienced -10.6°C. Drass data remained unavailable.
The weather is expected to remain mainly dry across the region until December 21, providing some stability in conditions after the recent cold wave. (Kashmir Weather)
