Hundreds of Kashmir University students Tuesday started a march from Naseem Bagh campus to Allama Iqbal Library to protest against what they termed “target killings” in Kulgam on Sunday, reports said.

Shouting pro-Azadi and anti-India slogans, the protesting students carried banners reading, ‘End Occupation, Free Kashmir’.

Reports said the students were aghast over the force’s action in Kulgam, reports said.

Alleging forces of human rights violations in nook and corner of Kashmir, the students said, “Our protest is against the target killings in Kulgam by forces. The forces have injured at least 25 people by firing indiscriminately.”

Pertinently, 4 militants, 2 civilians and 2 army men were killed in Kulgam after an encounter broke out between forces and militants in Redwani area of Kulgam district. As the encounter ensued, 4 militants and 2 forces personnel were killed. Later, following the clashes, 2 civilians were killed as forces resorted to intense firing on the civilian protesters. As many as 21 civilians received bullet injuries in the forces action.
