Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi on Wednesday visited the varsity’s North Campus at Delina, Baramulla, and interacted with its faculty and students.

During the day-long tour, the Vice-Chancellor reviewed the pace of under-construction infrastructure projects and inquired from the students and faculty about their needs and requirements. He directed that all works on student hostels be completed by the end of December this year and made operational immediately thereafter.

Prof Andrabi reiterated that he wanted to see the satellite campuses emerge as specialised campuses offering job-oriented and skill-based professional courses so that students from across the state prefer to study there.

Prof Andrabi was accompanied by Registrar Prof Khurshid A Butt, Executive Engineer Mufti Burhan Shah, Joint Registrar (Development), Dr Tanveer Ahmad Shah and PRO to Vice-Chancellor, Faheem Aslam.

The Vice-Chancellor went around various departments and asked the students and faculty to project their needs and requirements vis-à-vis infrastructure and other facilities for perusal and approval of the competent bodies.

He reiterated that the University is committed to provide all facilities, at par with those in the main campus, at its satellite campuses for their expeditious growth and development.

Prof Andrabi also assured that the vacant teaching and non-teaching positions at the North Campus shall be filled up soon to augment the staff strength.

Earlier, Director, North Campus, Prof Irshad Ahmad Wani, gave a detailed power-point presentation, highlighting therein the progress achieved on academic and infrastructure creation fronts in the past three years. He also put forth several demands vis-à-vis expansion of the campus and creation of more facilities.
