Kashmir valley on Wednesday received fresh snowfall, which affected both air and surface traffic.

Fresh snowfall occurred everywhere in the Valley except Srinagar city which received light rain with traces of snow.

Higher reaches, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Pir Panchal mountain range and other places, received moderate snowfall on Wednesday.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded 1.0 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 0.6 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 0.7 degrees Celsius last night.

Leh town in Ladakh region was at minus 4.3 and Kargil was coldest at minus 16.0 degrees Celsius. Drass recorded low of minus 6.3.

Jammu recorded a low of 11.6, Katra 10.8, Batote 1.4, Bannihal recorded 1.0 and Bhaderwah recorded 2.0 degrees Celsius.
