SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley received fresh snowfall following which minimum temperature rose in the valley providing slight relief to the residents from the cold conditions.

Higher reaches, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and other places received moderate and plains received light snowfall.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius, over four degrees up from the previous night’s low of minus 6.1 degrees Celsius, an official of the MeT department here said.

Mercury in Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, increased by over two degrees to settle at a low of minus 4.0 degrees Celsius as against minus 6.2 degrees Celsius the previous night.

The famous ski-resort of Gulmarg, which recorded a low of minus 6.0 degrees Celsius the previous night, registered a low of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius last night.

The mercury in Pahalgam hill resort, in south Kashmir, went up by almost six degrees from the previous night’s low of minus 7.0 degrees Celsius, to settle at a low of minus 1.3 degrees Celsius last night.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 4.5 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu recorded a low of 10.3 degrees Celsius while Batote recorded 4.0, Banihal recorded 1.2, and Bhaderwah recorded 2.1 degree Celsius.
