SRINAGAR: According to the latest weather reports, short thundershowers are likely to occur in the central and north regions of Kashmir within the next three hours. These showers may bring intermittent rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning during this time.

Similar weather conditions are also anticipated in some areas during the early morning hours. Recent updates indicate that Ganderbal and Bandipora have experienced heavy lightning, thunderstorms, and rainfall within the past hour.

In addition, the latest gauge readings at 8:00 PM have revealed alarming water levels in the River Jhelum. The water level at Sangam currently stands at 19.09 feet, which is below its capacity of 25 feet. At Pampore, the water level is recorded at 5.25 meters, slightly exceeding its maximum capacity of 5.0 meters. Munshi Bagh reports a water level of 19.17 feet, with only 2.83 feet remaining before reaching its full capacity of 21 feet. Asham’s water level stands at 13.05 feet, while its capacity is 16.5 feet.

The Irrigation & Flood Control Department in Kashmir is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the region.
