According to ETV Bharat, the accused, identified as Dr Adil Ahmed from Anantnag district, was detained following an investigation by the Srinagar police, who traced a suspect putting up pro-JeM posters in various locations in the city. CCTV footage reportedly showed Dr Ahmed affixing the posters, after which the Srinagar police team, supported by local authorities and the Special Operations Group, raided a private hospital on Ambala Road in Saharanpur, detaining the doctor on Thursday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Vyom Bindal, confirmed the arrest, stating that Dr Ahmed was produced before a court, which has granted transit remand to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation in Srinagar. The authorities have heightened background checks in Saharanpur, noting that several residents of Jammu and Kashmir are employed in local healthcare facilities.

Police sources say the probe was launched after multiple JeM posters appeared in Srinagar, prompting a swift registration of a case and review of local surveillance footage. The accused has now been taken to Srinagar for interrogation. Further investigation is ongoing.
