The woman was admitted in critical condition, and immediate medical action was initiated to operate within the ‘golden hours’ of the stroke. The operation theatre was swiftly prepared, and Dr Imtiyaz performed a complex neurovascular intervention that is seldom carried out in the Valley.

Trained at AIIMS New Delhi and holding credentials including MBBS, MD, and FRCR, Dr Imtiyaz had also trained hospital staff to handle such time-sensitive procedures. Just two days after the operation, the patient was reported to be in stable and satisfactory condition.

“This successful intervention is a reflection of teamwork, timely action, and increasing capabilities of our local medical infrastructure,” said Dr Imtiyaz, speaking to JKNS. “The patient is recovering well and has responded remarkably.”

Family members of the patient expressed gratitude to the medical team, crediting their quick response for saving her life.

The surgery is being hailed as a major milestone for the Valley’s healthcare, where patients with such conditions are often referred outside Jammu & Kashmir due to lack of local expertise or infrastructure. (JKNS)
