Kashmiri Entrepreneur Bags ‘Devi’ Award

A 25 year old Kashmiri entrepreneur Mehvish Mushtaq has been presented Devi Award.

She is among the 15 other females across India who received this prestigious award to “honour their energy and innovative thinking”.

India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj gave away the awards in New Delhi.

Mehvish rose to fame in Kashmir when she became the first Kashmiri girl to create an android app- Dail Kashmir. The app serves as an online telephone directory of all the phone numbers of public importance in Kashmir.

She is the first female entrepreneur in the field of technology from Kashmir.

On being chosen among the 15 inspirational women across India, Mehvish said it was an honour as well as a chance for her to learn from other women who were making changes in their respective fields.
