SRINAGAR: Keeping up with the trend, Kashmiri girls continue to outshine boys. In the results of the eleventh standard declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Monday afternoon, all the top positions were secured by girls. This is the first result of eleventh standard that includes all the students of Kashmir and Jammu region who study NCERT curriculum.

A total of 139,431 students wrote their examinations for the class 11th session Annual Regular 2023, out of which 73,471 (53 percent) successfully passed the examinations. The pass percentage is being seen as low in comparison to earlier years.

Adeeba Saleem emerged as the top scorer in the entire Jammu and Kashmir for the eleventh class examination. A student at Islamia Higher Secondary School in Srinagar, Adeeba achieved an impressive score of 496 marks.

Not far behind, the second rank was shared by Irtiza Javid and Basna Shah, both of whom secured 495 marks. Irtiza is a student at Government Higher Secondary School in Sopore, while Basna showcased her brilliance from Kothibagh, also a state run institution.

The third position witnessed a tie, with five students making their mark. Muskan Nazir, Mansha Shabir, Gargi, Vansham, and Princess achieved a score of 494 out of 500.

In terms of gender performance, 57 percent of girls passed the examination, surpassing boys. In contrast, 49 percent of boys successfully qualified for the next phase of their educational journey.

The fourth rank – each scoring an impressive 493 marks – was shared by a number of students. These include Muqadas Razaq, Faamina Fayaz, Raja Owais Amin, Sehaj Kour, Rudhara Tariq, Anushah Gul, Farheen Sakeena, Munazah Qureshi, Tvisha Gupta, Shriya Gupta, Aarav Sahni, and Suryansh.

The fifth spot on this ladder featured 26 students who achieved a score of 492 marks. Each student overcame significant challenges to accomplish this commendable feat, leaving an indelible mark on the legacy of educational excellence in Jammu and Kashmir.
106 students were absent from the examination, and over ten thousand students failed to secure a passing grade.

Students who have re-appeared or failed in their previous exams are hereby notified that they are eligible to continue their studies in Class XII on a provisional basis. This provision is in accordance with the government order no. 119-Edu of 2017 dated 15-03-2017, which pertains to the restructuring of the examination system.

This order, along with BoSE Notification No F(Acad-C) Adms/XI-XII/18 dated 24-09-2018 and another notification No. F(JSE/RR/Prov/12th)22 dated 03-08-2022, allows them to pursue their education until the announcement of their Biannual examination 2023 results.
