SRINAGAR: Of the two Rhodes scholarships that Indian students secured in 2020, one is a Kashmiri, reports appearing in media suggest.

Misbah Reshi

The scholar was identified as Misbah Reshi, a Kashmiri born and brought up in Delhi. She is the final year University of Delhi, Campus Law Centre student.

Misbah is a Philosophy Honours graduate from St Stephen’s College and a final year law student at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

Reshi is currently the student convener of the Legal Aid Society of her college and has been a contributor to human rights reports on minority rights in India and human rights violations in Kashmir.

Off late, Misbah has been writing on Kashmir. Her recent writing was on the media policy of Jammu and Kashmir that was released in 2019.

This is the second Rhodes scholarship that Kashmiri students have got. Earlier in 2018, Sameer Rashid Bhat had become the first Kashmiri law student to get the prestigious scholarship.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the world’s oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship programme, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford.
