SRINAGAR: A man from Jammu and Kashmir has been apprehended by the Mumbai Police on charges of allegedly raping and impregnating a 16-year-old girl, reports appearing in the media said.
The 19-year-old suspect was captured when he visited the girl, admitted to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra. The accused, originally from Kupwara district, had established a physical relationship with the victim during his employment in Mumbai from August 2022 to September this year.
The girl’s family, discovering her pregnancy, reported the matter to Mumbai Police, leading to the arrest of the accused under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO).
