SRINAGAR: With the controversial, The Kashmir Files roaring at the box office uninterrupted and making an earning of Rs 250 crore already, the Kashmiri Pandit is in sharp focus of the right-wing. In the last 24 hours, two major right-wing figures talked about the migrant KP community.

“I have a feeling that the day is very near when the Kashmiri Pandits will come back to their homes and I wish that day comes soon,” RSS Chief, Mohan Bhagwat told the Pandits in a video conference, according to ANI. “The community should make a resolve that ‘we left (Kashmir) because of extremism but when we’ll return now, we’ll go back as Hindus and Bharat bhakt with an assurance of our security and livelihood’. We will live in a way that nobody will dare to displace us.”

“Earlier, I said that the issue of Kashmiri Pandits will be solved through public awareness and hindrances such as Article 370 must be removed. After 2011, in these 11 years, due to our collective efforts, there’s no Article 370 anymore,” Bhagwat was quoted saying.  He added: “Now is the time to return and settle there with our conditions… You don’t have to resettle there, but have to settle in a way that you don’t get uprooted again.”

On Saturday, BJP leader and MP, Subramaniyam Swamy joined a group f migrant Kashmir Pandits in celebrating the Navreh, the first day of the Hindu calendar.  He told reporters that a “proper safety mechanism” must be in place before they ask the Kashmiri Pandits to return home.

“Kashmiri Pandits have experienced massacre and that should never be repeated. “Kashmiri pandits should be made to return only after proper safety apparatus is put in place here in Kashmir so that the worst experience that they have faced will not be repeated,” a Srinagar newspaper quoted Swamy saying.  “I have already said that the ex-soldiers who have retired should be allowed to settle in Kashmir. These soldiers know how to handle weaponry and can be the best option for the safety of all the Pandits. There should be a special telephone line for Kashmiri pandits and when they have to return they can be received amid the security of this special force. This will ensure the safety of KPs because the force will be exclusively for the safety of Kashmiri pundits.”
