Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday vehemently condemns the intimidation of students studying in and outside the valley in different educational institutions.

The spokesman said that in the universities and colleges outside Jammu and Kashmir, scores of students have been so far arrested by different agencies on “false and frivolous” grounds forcing a good number of Kashmiri students to give up their studies in between.

The spokesman said that despite assurances by the university and other authorities, there is no sign of any relief to them. During the previous night, the government forces have picked up two innocent students Suhail Ahmad and Mohammad Ismael from their rented accommodation in Nowgam without informing the Central University authority where they both are studying in the Department of Political Science.

Their families have neither been informed of their arrest nor the grounds thereof which is a blatant violation of the human rights happening unfortunately only in the valley.

Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) said that Kashmir dispute is a Himalayan fact and New Delhi must shun its stand of ignorance and accept the internationally acknowledged right to self-determination of the people of the disputed region.

The party spokesperson said in a statement that people of Jammu Kashmir are struggling for their genuine right ever since 1947 when the sub-continent was divided on two nation theory. Unfortunately, Kashmiri people are suffering at the hands of a country which claims to be the largest democracy. It is the same India which has killed hundreds of thousands of people, maimed them, jailed them and even disappeared them in custody, the spokesman said.
