A truck driver from Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was killed in a road mishap at Batalbalian area of Udhampur along Srinagar-Jammu highway during the intervening night of November 10 and 11.
An official said that the driver of the Truck (JK 09-4631) died when another truck (JK02AV-2974) hit him resulting in his on spot death.
“The mishap occurred when the driver was checking the screws of the tyres of his truck,” he said.
He identified the deceased as Mohammad Altaf Magray, a resident of Doorusa of Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Udhampur and further investigations were taken up in this regard, he said.
The officer said that after conducting all legal formalities the body of the deceased will be handed over to his relatives who have also been contacted but haven’t reached Udhampur so far. (GNS)
