Police on Monday foiled a sit-in protest program of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) in Lal Chowk. Hurriyat (G)chairman Syed Ali Geelani was placed under house arrest on Monday when he tried to defy house arrest restrictions in a bid to march towards Civil Secretariat Srinagar but was detained by police deployed outside his residence.

The spokesman said Geelani tried to come out of his Hyderpora residence but policemen posted outside prevented him from doing so. Syed Ali Geelani denounced innocent killings “forces’ atrocities” on common people during anti-militancy operations in South Kashmir. Geelani said that the common people, mostly youth, are being subjected to “worst atrocities” by government forces in whole state and particularly south Kashmir. He demanded an end to the “on-going reign of terror unleashed by forces during military operations” in south Kashmir.

Geelani while calling an end to this bloodshed said that the south Kashmir has been turned into a battlefield. Lashing at the government, Geelani said that since past seven decades forces are killing people on one pretext or the other and added that latest bloodbath on Sunday proved that and rulers have virtually turned the state into a “butcher house.”

Referring to the increasing incidents of encounters, Geelani said, “a few black sheep in our ranks are working as informers of the armed forces and they are responsible for brutal killings of our brave hearts. They for petty gains are providing inputs to the force and are accountable for their wrongdoings and devilish deeds, Geelani said.

Geelani in his statement while lashing at deceitful approach of a few black sheep, said that it is unfair and unethical for those doing corrupt practice and sailing in two boats. How it is fair to raise pro-freedom slogans in “martyr’s” funerals and simultaneously shake hands with pro-Indian factions, Geelani asked.

In his telephonic address to mourners, attending slain professors funeral, Geelani said that his exemplary valor, commitment and bravery is an eye-opener and serves an answer to those who claim that resistance among youth is the outcome of unemployment  and  relating these sacrifices development and  economic issues.

Government needs to realize the reason of turmoil in state, said Geelani, saying they are living in an illusion and deliberately neglecting the fundamental reason of turmoil in state and ultimately they will have to come to the point for evolving the peaceful situations in subcontinent, Geelani added.

Lashing at authorities in state; Syed Ali Geelani said that they are bartering the pious blood for their petty and material gains.

Geelani in his address to youth stressed to illustrate steadfastness and commitment with ongoing resistance against the government and cautioned the people against divide and rule policy of pro-Indian factions and stressed to forge unity among all those pursuing sacred missions.
