Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday demanded inclusion of Kashmiris in the Indo-Pak dialogue.
“It is the long standing desire of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir to see the two neighbouring countries India and Pakistan having cordial relations and all the steps which may be taken including the ensuing Foreign Secretaries Level Talks for achieving this noble goal are welcome. But Jama’at-e-Islami being a representative organization of this part of J&K is duty bound to express the fact that the long standing contention going on between the two countries has its roots in the dispute of Kashmir which directly affects the interests and rights of more than one and a half crore people, forms the core issue,” said spokesperson of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir in a statement to KNS.
Keeping this historical fact in view, it is advisable for both the countries to include the Kashmiri people in any negotiations to make it result-oriented. “The bilateral talks can never be fruitful in establishing permanent and durable peace in the sub-continent thought its temporary utility cannot be denied too,” the spokesperson said.
“Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir impresses upon those on the helm of affairs in both the countries to give the Kashmir issue its due importance in any negotiations keeping its historical importance and the interests of the millions of people residing in sub-continent. Further to resolve this issue permanently on the basis of justice in, it is indispensable to know the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and so the inclusion of the real representatives of the people of entire J&K in these negotiations is inevitable,” the spokesperson added.
