Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Monday said that the people of the state are “unsafe in their own land” by “turning J&K into a garrison”.

“On the eve of 26 January, forces have turned Jammu and Kashmir a garrison where barricades have been erected at every nook and corner and every men and women have been asked to show their identity which left them in chaos. People are being thrown out of the passenger buses and harassed in every respect,” a statement issued by JeI said this evening.” It has come to fore that forces have been pushing out elders and women’s during frisking and checking of vehicles which left the entire life in Jammu and Kashmir in freeze. Forces have arrested dozens of innocent youth in the name of law and order and subjected them to callous behaviour and ransack many houses. Thus in celebrating 26 like events, New-Delhi has proved that people of Jammu and Kashmir are not safe, secure and free even on their own soil.”

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemns “this behaviour” and terms it “anti-people” and urges authorities to release all youths, the statement added.
