Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday availed the alternate options to defy restrictions.

He has been detained in his Nigeen residence since last Friday and large posse of police and CRPF men have garrisoned his home.

On the eve of Martyrs Day, Mirwaiz called for Naqushband Sahib Chalo. After he was barred from opening main gate of his residence, the young Mirwaiz climbed the huge fence, which is over 20 feet high, to march towards Martyrs Graveyard in Old Srinagar.

A posse of police was seen resisting the cleric’s attempt to come out of his residence prompting him to climb the fence and come out. He was arrested and taken to a nearby police station.

Notably, all Hurriyat leadership has been put under restrictions after the militant commander Burhan Wani’s killing.
