The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry Wednesday held an emergency meeting under the Chairmanship of President Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and condemned the “irresponsible and baseless” statement of the President Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry regarding the mistreatment meted out to the Amarnath Yatris, beating them up and forcing them to raise anti-national slogans.

This statement is in contrast to the services, hospitality and the rescue operations undertaken by the local people in helping them to perform their Yatra without any problems which is borne by a number of statements made by the Yatris in print and electronic media.

“This mis-representation and misleading statement is an attempt to give a communal twist to the on-going protests being held by people over the killing of 48 innocent children, boys, girls and other citizens. Moreover, the critical and incurable and other injuries suffered by about 2000 people that has shocked the people World-over cannot be put under the wraps,” it said.

“This is reminiscent to the developments of 2008 land row agitation by giving that also a communal colour and let off the hook the Government of the brutalities committed by it on the people of Kashmir,” the Kashmir Inc said. “It is a matter of grave concern that the reaction of the unfounded statement by the President Jammu Chamber has been faced by Kashmiri truckers in Punjab which is likely to add fuel to the fire to the prevailing situation in the Valley.”

“The Chamber wonders why instead of condemning the killing of innocent Kashmiris the Jammu Chamber has adopted an unrealistic approach at this critical juncture which will further add to the sufferings of the people.” (CNS)
