A delegation comprising of Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, Hakim Mohammed Yaseen and Gh Hassan Mir met the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir today and expressed their “deep concern” over the numerous hardships being faced by the common man because of excessive use of force against protestors and use of lethal weapons / pellet guns in dealing with the protesters which has led to loss of precious lives and grave injuries inflicted on hundreds.

“The delegation expressed its anguish over the unwarranted Gag on media which they feel will only encourage rumour mongering and is bound to prove counterproductive,” said the statement released by Tarigami.

“The delegation demanded immediate halt to use of excessive force and also lethal weapons, pellet guns and indiscriminate arrests be stopped forthwith. They also demanded proper treatment to the injured and availability of vital and essential drugs in the hospitals and more seriously injured persons to be shifted to super speciality hospitals outside the state to save their lives. Besides this effective measures need to be taken to ensure restoration of essential services and supply of essential commodities to the people. They also strongly demanded to removal of the unwarranted draconian restrictions on the media.”
