Chief of Army Staff Pakistan General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday condemned, following days of unrest in Kashmir, the brutal killing of Kashmiri youth by forces.

He expressed his displeasure during the monthly Corps Commander Conference at the General Headquarters, dawn.com reported this evening.

“The army chief reiterated that the world needs to recognise aspirations of the Kashmiri people, their struggle for freedom and help resolve the long standing dispute for lasting amity in Kashmir and to promote enduring peace in the region,” the news report said.

At least 37 civilians were killed by forces since Saturday after protests erupted against militant commander Burhan Wani’s killing. Over 1500 civilians were injured in bullet and pellet firing.
