Noted Kashmiri photojournalist Showkat Shafi working with Qatar based Aljazeera has won the best photograph award at The Drum Online Media Awards 2017.

The award was received by Shafi’s colleague at Aljazeera, Gehad Soliman, a video released on official YouTube Channel of The Drum award reveals.
The Drum Online Media Awards, took place on Thursday 1 June at the Marriott in Grosvenor Square, London. The elite of the industry gathered together to celebrate their successess over the past year and hear the all important results.
“I am happy to collect the award on behalf of my colleague Showkat Shafi who has done tremendous job documenting the lives of people in Kashmir and the suffering of people there and telling the human stories through his photography… so well-done Showkat,” Soliman said.
Al Jazeera’s English edition swept the board at The Drum Online Media Awards last night (1 June), winning both the Grand Prix and the Chairman’s Award for its coverage of the attempted coup in Turkey, a report in thedrum.com said.
