Kashmir’s Dangal girl Zaira Wasim at the trailer launch of her upcoming movie ‘Secret Superstar’ on Wednesday, snapped a reporter who described Kashmir as a place where women are not given equal opportunities, India Today reported.
When asked, that women are not given equal opportunities, the teenage superstar responded: “Who told you this?”
Aamir Khan, producer of Secret Superstar, and his wife Kiran Rao quickly stepped in for some damage control. While Aamir said that their work speaks for itself, Kiran said that women all over the world have not had it easy. She rued that the fight still continues to get equal rights and equal pay.
This year, in January Zaira Wasim faced massive backlash for meeting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. She then apologised to “all those people who I’ve unintentionally hurt”, but subsequently deleted the posts.
Directed by Advait Chandan, Secret Superstar is set for a release this Diwali.
